Baccara was een Spaanse groep die oorspronkelijk werd opgericht door Mayte Mateos in samenwerking met María Mendiola . De groep werd opgericht in 1977 en had een zeer goede carrière tot 1981, toen ze besloten uit elkaar te gaan nadat María Mendiola vond dat haar stem niet de erkenning kreeg die het verdiende.
